A Shetland pony foal named Lucy, which was stolen from the Truro area at just two months old, has been found.
Lucy, the chestnut, skewbald Shetland pony foal, was stolen from Shortlanesend on 17 July.
Devon and Cornwall Police issued a media appeal to #BringLucyHome and followed up on information provided by the public, finally finding her on Thursday 21 August.
Jean Curd, owner, said:
"I couldn't believe it when I had a phone call to say they found her"
When describing being reunited with Lucy after one month, Jean added:
"It was something I never thought would happen.
"Initially I kept hoping but after a few weeks I just thought that's it."
The appeal reached well over 1,000,000 people on social media.
Jean added: "I kept thinking perhaps she got out, every time we walked down the lane or drove anywhere we'd look, thinking she would be there.
"There was a bit of disbelief and I was really worried for her because she was only two months old."
Following intelligence provided by a member of the public, following the media appeal, the Rural Affairs team at Devon and Cornwall Police made contact with officers from the Rural Crime team at Hertfordshire Constabulary who carried out a search at a caravan park in the Hertfordshire force area.
The team located Lucy and seized her from the property, and she was back home in with owner Jean and mum Nancy by 11pm on the same day.
PC Skinner, Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "We will do everything we can in regards to rural crime. Whether that be the returning of horses, or quad bikes, whatever the crime is we will put the resources in to look into it.
"The impact of rural crime can be huge and can leave victims and people feeling quite vulnerable.
"We can say we are they, we do everything we can if you do become a victim of crime."
