Truro Pride 2026 to kick off with solidarity march against hate
Truro Pride 2026 will commence with a peaceful Solidarity March today (Saturday 18th July), as the community gathers to stand united against hate, promoting equality and human rights.
The march will assemble at Hendra Park from 10:00am, where attendees can create signs and banners together, followed by community speakers at 11:15am. The march will start at 12 noon, progressing through Truro to Lemon Quay, leading into the full Pride celebration.
Matthew Kenworthy Gomes, Chief Executive of Cornwall Pride, said the march's focusses on visibility and solidarity, stating that Pride is more than celebration, representing a movement toward safety, openness, and dignity for all.
The march welcomes LGBTQ+ individuals and allies, faith groups, disability advocates, community organisations, families, and anyone opposing hate on the streets.
Participants are encouraged to bring flags, banners, signs, and items representing their community or organisation. Sign-making materials will be available at the event, and attendees are advised to wear comfortable clothing, bring water, and be weather-ready.
Cornwall Pride is working in collaboration with Devon & Cornwall Police, local authorities, and event partners to prioritise community safety and ensure the event remains peaceful, orderly, and family-friendly.
Participants are urged to stand with dignity, support each other, avoid confrontation, and demonstrate the strength of community collaboration.
