A group of colleges in Cornwall reportedly may have to make redundancies due to what leaders are calling 'significant challenges'.
In an email to parents and carers - Truro and Penwith College principal Martin Tucker said the college is facing "financial pressures" as a result of rising costs.
A strategic review of operations is said to be underway.
In a media statement, Truro and Penwith College said: "like many further education institutions across the country, is navigating significant financial challenges due to rising costs and government funding that has not kept pace with inflation.
"To safeguard the long-term sustainability of the College and ensure we continue delivering high-quality education and training across Cornwall, we are undertaking a strategic review of our operations.
"This process includes evaluating curriculum management and support services to enhance financial efficiency. Unfortunately, this may result in some redundancies.
"We fully recognise the impact this may have on our staff, and we are committed to engaging with colleagues and union representatives in an open and transparent manner.
"Discussions are ongoing, and as such, we are unable to share further details at this stage. However, we want to reassure everyone that we are actively exploring all possible options, including voluntary measures and redeployment, to minimise compulsory redundancies.
"Despite these challenges, our priority remains the same; to provide exceptional educational opportunities for our students and to continue supporting Cornwall’s communities and industries.
"We deeply value the dedication of our staff and are providing dedicated support channels throughout this process for staff and stakeholders with questions or concerns."
