Teenager charged after rooftop incident in Redruth

A 17-year-old boy from Redruth has been charged following an incident in the Fore Street area during the early hours of Saturday, 21st February.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 4:30am where the teenager allegedly caused damage and engaged in multiple offences.

He has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life, criminal damage, sending communications threatening death or serious harm, affray, and possession of a controlled Class A drug.

Police reported that the incident was prolonged and involved the fire, ambulance, and police services responding to a situation involving the boy on a rooftop.

All individuals affected were secured, and a police scene guard was put in place.

The police statement also noted an increased presence in the town throughout the weekend and encouraged anyone affected to speak with officers.

The suspect, who cannot legally be named due to being under the age of 18, has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Truro Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 23 February).
