A teenager has been arrested on suspicious of driving while unfit through drugs after a crash in Falmouth

A teenager has been arrested on suspicious of driving while unfit through drugs after a crash in Falmouth.

A motorcycle and a car were involved at Grove Place, with the junction of Avenue Road, yesterday evening.

A 17-year-old boy, who was a passenger on the bike, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are investigating a serious road traffic collision in Falmouth on Wednesday 6 August and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"Officers were called at around 6.40pm on Wednesday 6 August, to a report of a road traffic collision involving a red Aprilia motorcycle and a blue BMW 1 series, at Grove Place with the junction of Avenue Road, Falmouth.

"The pillion passenger of the motorcycle, a 17-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital to receive medical treatment. His injuries are suspected to be life changing and possibly life threatening.

"The rider of the motorbike and the driver of the car were not injured.

"Road closures were put in place whilst collision investigation work was carried out at the scene. The road was reopened at 11.25pm.

"A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs. He remains in police custody.
