Skybus CEO leaves company with immediate effect as passengers face delays

The boss of airline Skybus has left the company with immediate effect after just 18 months in the role.

Jonathan Hinkles was appointed as the managing director of Skybus in January last year (2025).

The airline which operates regular flights between the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall also took over the only flights between Cornwall to London earlier this year.

All flights by the airline from the Isles of Scilly to Cornwall are facing delays today (1 July) and some passengers have been flown by helicopter to Penzance.

Isles of Scilly Steamship Group which runs Skybus confirmed today (1 July) that the company and Hinkles had "mutually agreed" that he would leave his position "with immediate effect."

A spokesperson for the company said: "The Company and Jonathan Hinkles have mutually agreed that Jonathan will leave his position as Managing Director of Skybus with immediate effect.

"Stuart Reid will assume the role of Managing Director of Skybus and CAA Accountable Manager on an interim basis, alongside his responsibilities as Chief Executive Officer of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group."
