Senior police officer due in court charged with sexual assault
Temporary Superintendent Jim Saunders will appear before magistrates in Plymouth
A serving Devon and Cornwall Police officer is due to appear in court charged with sexual assault.
Temporary Superintendent Jim Saunders, aged 48, from East Cornwall, will appear at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 30th September 2026.
He is charged with one count of sexual assault by touching.
The force said: "A serving Devon and Cornwall Police officer is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.
"Temporary Superintendent Jim Saunders, aged 48, from East Cornwall, is charged with one count of sexual assault by touching.
"Temporary Superintendent Saunders is currently suspended."
