Several schools in Launceston have closed today (February 3rd) after a water outage caused by a damaged main.
South West Water said their teams worked trough the night to repair the water main in Trebartha which the company say was damaged by a "third party."
The company are now "recharging" their drinking water network but this has to be done "carefully to avoid damaging the pipes."
Therefore some customers are experiencing a temporary loss of water supply or low pressure.
South West Water are delivering bottled water to vulnerable customers as well as setting up bottled water stations.
Cornwall Council said on its website that seven schools in the area are closed including; Launceston College, Lewannick CP School, South Petherwin CP School, St. Joseph's School and Windmill Hill Academy.
Meanwhile, Windmill Hill Academy closed at around 1:30pm today after experiencing discoloured water.
Launceston Town Council has closed its offices, public toilets, and visitor information centre due to the ongoing water issues.
A spokesperson for South West Water said in a statement: " “We thank customers for their patience whilst our teams work to return all supplies as quickly as possible."
