Safety message as RNLI called out to help paddleboarders in difficulty
Crews are advising caution when lifeguards are not on duty or if a beach lacks a lifeguard patrol after an incident off Seaton beach
Looe RNLI volunteers were mobilised to assist paddleboarders in difficulty off Seaton beach, Cornwall, yesterday morning.
The Falmouth Coastguard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre received reports at 9.10 am on 11th July that a child was in the water, prompting immediate action.
The RNLI volunteer crew launched their Atlantic 85 boat, Spirit of Cooperation, reaching the scene within eight minutes.
Both paddleboarders had been assisted ashore by members of the public upon the crew's arrival.
Crew members conducted a casualty care assessment, confirming both individuals were safe.
Safety advice regarding offshore winds was provided due to current Easterly winds blowing out to sea from Seaton beach.
The RNLI advises caution when lifeguards are not on duty or if a beach lacks a lifeguard patrol.
Seaton beach's RNLI Lifeguard patrol hours are from 10am to 6pm during summer months.
After completing their checks, the lifeboat returned to Looe for recovery.
