Railway 200 exhibition train makes Newquay debut

Cornwall's Newquay station hosted the Railway 200 Inspiration train, a travelling exhibition offering interactive experiences and captivating stories.

This engaging exhibition, co-curated with the National Railway Museum, had rare artefacts and engineering challenges, exploring the impact of railways on global transformation.

Visitors have praised the exhibition for its informative and family-friendly approach, with more than 60,000 attendees describing it as "brilliant" and "fascinating."

The exhibition will continue its journey, visiting South Devon Railway’s Totnes Riverside station from 17th to 22nd March, and West Somerset Railway’s Minehead station from 30th March to 4th April.

Lee Goodson, GWR station manager for West Cornwall, expressed excitement about hosting the train, noting the enthusiasm it has generated since its tour began.

Programme Manager Emma Roberts highlighted the exhibition's focus on exploring railway history in a fun and engaging manner, with additional contributions coming from notable figures like Rail Minister Lord Peter Hendy, who emphasised the railways' role in driving economic growth.
