Police investigating a fire at a former pub in Falmouth are treating it as suspicious.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire at the former Boslowick Inn, on Prislow Lane in Falmouth at around 21:30 last night (November 12).

Devon and Cornwall Police say they were called by the fire service at around 23:00 and that the road was closed overnight while the fire service worked to extinguish the fire.

Fire crews remained at the scene into the early hours of this morning damping down hotspots and securing parts of the roof.

Police have said they are treating the cause of the fire as suspicious and are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

The force added that Cornwall Council and firefighters are working to ensure the structure is safe and to carry out an initial investigation of the premises.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are are also aware of reports of anti-social behaviour in the area and linked to the property and have been making enquiries and efforts to address and tackle this.

"If there is relevant information from this it will also feed into this investigation."
