Devon and Cornwall Police crack down on dangerous driving
It's part of a special operation running all week
Police are targeting dangerous and inconsiderate driving - as figures show last year - 976 people were injured as a result of collisions in Devon and Cornwall.
That's an increase of 200 from the year before.
Operation Herbless is hoping to raise awareness of issues - including speeding, driving under the influence and using a phone behind the wheel.
It's all been supported by an operational day of action, which has seen Neighbourhood teams working with the Roads Policing Unit, Commercial Vehicle Unit and the No Excuses team to proactively target dangerous and inconsiderate driving in Cornwall.
In Cornwall alone back in 2023, 270 people were seriously injured as a result of collisions in Cornwall and 24 people sadly lost their lives.
Data shows that 75% of recorded collisions in Cornwall in 2023 occurred on roads in rural areas.
Forcewide in 2024, 976 people were injured as a result of collisions on roads across both Devon and Cornwall – an increase of 200 from 2023.
There was also an increase in fatalities:- 45 in 2022, 51 in 2023 and 53 in 2024.
