Police appeal after aggravated burglary in St Ives
A group of men forced their way into an address in the Chapel/Gabriel Street area around 6.25am.
Detectives are seeking witnesses following an aggravated burglary in St Ives yesterday.
A group of men forced their way into an address in the Chapel/Gabriel Street area around 6.25am. One of the men was believed to have been in possession of a knife and a small firearm.
They then fled the property in a car, stealing a safe from the address.
Local and firearms officers attended.
Police enquiries led to an address in the Treneere area of Penzance later the same day.
A man in his 30s from Penzance was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence, driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit and possession of Class B drug with intent to supply. He has been released on bail until 11 June pending further enquiries.
The occupant of the premises has been traced and is safe and well.
A scene guard was put in place at the property but lifted around 10pm last night, 11 March.
In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing to anyone who may have information to help with the investigation to contact them."
