Police investigate serious sexual assault in Plymouth

Police are investigating a serious sexual assault in Plymouth, which was reported early this morning (10 January).

Officers were called shortly after 4am following claims that a woman had been sexually assaulted in the Mutley Plain area.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 6ins to 5ft 8ins tall, with blondish hair.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate him, and door-to-door investigations are being carried out in the surrounding area.

A scene guard is currently in place on Furzehill Road, and police presence around Mutley Plain will be increased throughout today and into the evening.

Specially trained officers are offering support to the victim.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area last night or early this morning to get in touch.

People with relevant home camera footage are also urged to contact the police via 101 or through their website, quoting log 116 of 10 January.
