Rescue teams in Cornwall say they rescued two people on Christmas Day - and say it shows the advantange of GPS apps as they urge others to make sure they can also be found before heading out.

Emergency teams spent from about 9pm - until the early hours of Boxing Day - searching Rough Tor on Bodmin Moor.

East Cornwall Search and Rescue stretchered one of the people to safety.

A spokesperson said: "The team incident controller had discussions with the walkers and confirmed their location using Phonefind.

"This was particularly helpful on this occasion, as the walkers had started to become cold and wet from the very bad weather.

"As team members arrived on scene, a plan was put into place to stretcher one of the walkers off down the steep and very rocky ground after a full check over was done by one of our dedicated remote rescue medical technicians.

"We arrived at our awaiting team vehicle ready to transport them back to their vehicle to head home to the warm."
