Man jailed after stabbing in Cornwall
The victim suffered a chest wound after being attacked with a knife
A man has been jailed for 27 months for stabbing another man in the chest at a property in Cornwall.
Jack Clark, a 33-year-old from St Mary’s Road, Par, was sentenced at Truro Crown Court on 12th December 2023, after pleaded guilty to wounding and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The court heard that on 31st March 2023, the victim was socialising with a group of friends at a home in Roche when at around 2am there was a banging at the door and two women forced their way into the house, shouting abuse.
The victim tried to get the women to leave before encountering Clark outside the property.
One of the women punched the victim in the face and, during a further exchange, Clark stabbed the man in the chest using a knife.
The victim was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital and later transported to Derriford Hospital for treatment for a four inch stab wound to the breastbone.
Clark was arrested and declined to comment in police interviews.
He later denied bringing the knife to the scene.
His version of events was dismissed by a judge.
Speaking about the case, DC Emily Rickard said, “Jack Clark armed himself and travelled to the address in which a number of people were socialising, knowing full well an altercation was likely.
“He purposefully stabbed the victim in the chest and it is only down to pure luck – and a matter of inches - that this didn’t become a murder investigation."
DC Rickard continued, “Anybody who carries a knife and brandishes it runs the risk of devastating numerous lives as well as their own.”
