Major rescue operation after climber falls from cliff in Cornwall

Coastguard teams and emergency services have been revealing the details of a massive search operation after someone fell from a cliff.

It happened on a beach in Cornwall yesterday evening (1/8).

They say how three climbers had to be rescued after one men fell from a height at St Agnes Head - with the RNLI, Coastguard, ambulance, off duty police officer and air ambulance rushed to the scene at just after 7pm.

Sharing details about the incident this morning (2/8), Newquay's Coastguard and Search & Rescue Team said on Facebook: "Yesterday evening at 2035hrs Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust with a casualty on Perranporth Beach as St Agnes Coastguard Search & Rescue Team were already tasked with a rescue at Trevaunance Cove.

"After locating the casualty who had been cared for by her family, members of the public and an off duty police officer, the team provided treatment. With the aid of an off duty paramedic the casualty eventually made their own way to hospital for further treatment. We wish them a swift recovery.

"Thank you all who assisted yesterday evening.

"If you see someone in difficulty along the coast dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
