Major flooding in Cornwall forces local pub to close

Owners of the Ship Inn Mevagissey wrote on Facebook: "After last night down fall we are unfortunately going to have to close today"

The Ship Inn Mevagissey said "Thankyou to everyone who helped clear up after flooding over night ".

Their post got over 200 shares, 500 comments and 2 thousand likes within 5 hours.

One comment said: "It's so bad, my grandsons flat was flooded in Plymouth, they got out with only their night clothes"

Elsewhere, Torpoint Fire Station said it helped the family get out of a flooded home after being called to the property at about 00:40.

On Facebook they wrote: "Crews mobilised to a domestic flooding following heavy rain.

Assisted with the safe extrication of family from house. "
