Police issue update on Newquay fire investigation
A man has been arrested and released on bail, pending further enquires.
Police are continuing their investigations into a fire at property in Newquay.
Officers were called out by the fire service to a fire at a residential property on Narrowcliff, at around 4.35pm last Tuesday.
The body of a man in his 30s was found in the property. The man's next of kin have been informed and are being given support by specialist police officers.
Police had arrested a 33-year-old man from Bolton on suspicion of murder. He has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
The fire's cause is believed to be suspicious. Officers are making ongoing enquiries to establish the surrounding circumstances.
Detective Superintendent Jon Bancroft, Force Senior Investigation Officer, said: “Officers are continuing to carry out a number of enquiries in relation to this investigation.
“While a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and subsequently released on bail, we are keeping an open mind in relation to the circumstances surrounding the death, which we are currently treating as unexplained.
“I continue to ask anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage, doorbell or CCTV footage and any relevant information, to contact police and report anything that may assist us.”
