Former Cornwall MP announces council bid
Steve Double lost his seat at the last election.
The former MP for St Austell and Newquay, Steve Double, has announced that he intends to stand for election as a councillor.
Mr Double became a Member of Parliament in 2015, but lost his seat at the last election.
He says he intends to stand in the St Mewan and Grampound Division and hopes to secure a seat on Cornwall Council.
Announcing his decision on his Facebook page, the former MP said: "I have the experience and drive to deliver results. I know how to get things done, and I believe my record speaks for itself.
"Many people have urged me to stand for Council, and I feel it would be a waste not to once again put my experience to work for the people of Cornwall."
