Rail services between Liskeard and Looe have been cancelled due to flooding on the railway line.

Flooding has made all lines between these stations impassable, and disruption is expected to last until the end of Sunday 4th January. There will also be no train service on Thursday 25th December, Sunday 28th December, and Sunday 4th January.

Replacement transport provided

Rail replacement minibuses operated by A2B will run at the times previously scheduled for trains, departing from Liskeard and Looe and calling at Sandplace in both directions. Passengers are advised to wait at the allocated rail replacement bus stops. It should be noted that these services may experience delays due to extended travel time on the road and during boarding and alighting at each stop.

Travellers from Coombe Junction Halt, St Keyne Wishing Well Halt, or Causeland are advised to use customer help points or contact National Rail Enquiries at 03457 484 950 to inform staff of the number of passengers in their group and their intended destination.

Ticket acceptance and alternative travel

Tickets will be valid on Go Cornwall Bus route 73. This service connects Liskeard (bus stops near the station entrance), St Keyne (community centre), Sandplace (station), and Looe (bus stops across the road from the station) at no extra cost.

Efforts to repair the line

Great Western Railway and Network Rail are working together to address the flooding and re-open the line. Although water levels have receded, inspections are required on the affected bridges. Due to fast-flowing water and diver availability, inspections that involve divers are currently postponed until 4th January 2026.

Travel advice and compensation

Passengers should check their journey today and through Saturday 27th December using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner. Updated information for journeys from Monday 29th December onwards will be provided at a later date.

Helpful advice on rail replacement services, accessibility options, and bicycle policies can be found on the Rail Replacement Services page. Station signage and the ‘Find a Station’ page will also show pick-up and drop-off points for replacement vehicles.

Replacement transport may be busier than normal, and passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journey.

If your journey is delayed, you may be entitled to compensation. Keep hold of your train ticket and note down journey details as this information will be needed to submit a claim.
