Flood warnings issued and train lines closed ahead of Christmas rush
A number of warnings and alerts have been enforced by the Environment Agency
Train passengers across the South West of England are facing cancellations and delays this morning due to flooding and signalling faults.
It comes as the Environment Agency confirm there are around a dozen amber 'flood warnings' in force around the region - and even more 'flood alerts' after a wet weekend.
On the trains, services between Penzance and Plymouth may be cancelled or delayed owing to a signalling issue near St Erth.
Great Western Railway (GWR) has stated this disruption is expected to continue until 09:30.
Flooding is also causing closures on the railway between Par and Newquay, as well as between Liskeard and Looe.
All lines in these affected areas are closed, and trains running to and from these stations will be cancelled until further assessments of safety conditions. These closures are expected to last until 12:00.
Passengers are advised to check their journey before travelling today via their Train Operating Company's website.
