Flood warnings in place on Cornwall's south coast

Three alerts remain in place

Three flood alerts remain in place on the south coast of Cornwall.

The Environment Agency say flooding is possible along the Tidal Fal Estuary, between Lizard Point to Gribbin Head and from Gribbin Head to Rame Head.

These alerts were put in place on Monday evening following the high tides, and are still in force this morning (9/9).

The Environment Agency issued the following warnings:

Tidal Fal Estuary

The EA reported high water at Falmouth is at 18:37, when the spring tides may cause some flooding over Monday evenings high tide.

They said how coastal conditions should ease for Tuesday morning's high tide, however, conditions are forecast to worsen from Tuesday evenings tide, bringing a further risk of flooding. Flood alerts and warnings may be issued.

Locations at risk may include low lying areas in Falmouth, Penryn, Flushing, Mylor Bridge and the A39 at Perranarworthal.

Waterside locations and roads along the estuary may be flooded. Do not walk or drive through flood water.

They say they are monitoring the situation and will update this information by midday Tuesday, or if the situation changes.

The tidal gates at Flushing have been closed.

South Cornwall coast from Lizard Point to Gribbin Head excluding the Tidal Fal Estuary

Flooding was possible over the high tide on Monday evening, with high water at Falmouth at 18:37, times of high water will vary along the coast.

High water levels were last night forecast to cause flooding between 17:30 and 19:30.

Locations particularly at risk include low lying coastal communities including Cadgwith and Coverack, Porthallow, the tidal Helford Estuary, Maenporth and Swanpool, St.Mawes, East Portholland, Gorran Haven, Portmellon, Mevagissey, Pentewan and Par

Do not walk or drive through flood water or waves.

Coastal conditions should ease for Tuesday morning's high tide, however, conditions are forecast to worsen from Tuesday evenings tide, bringing a further risk of flooding.

Flood alerts and warnings may be required.

South Cornwall coast from Gribbin Head to Rame Head

Flooding was reported possible over the high tide on Monday evening, with high water at Plymouth at 19:13.

High water levels were forecast to cause flooding between 18:00 and 20:00.

Locations particularly at risk include low lying areas including Fore Street, Town Quay, Albert Quay and Caffa Mill Car park at Fowey, Quay Street and Recreation ground at Lostwithiel, Polperro Harbour, Quay Road and The Quay at Looe and the B3247 at Seaton

Do not walk or drive through flood water or waves.

Flood alerts and warnings will be issued if required.
