Fire crews tackle blaze at Porthtowan commercial property

Six fire engines mobilised as evacuation continues

A large fire has erupted in a commercial property on Beach Road, Porthtowan, prompting an extensive emergency response last night (05/07).

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at 21:18, receiving multiple calls from concerned witnesses.

Two fire engines from Tolvaddon were initially dispatched, alongside two full-time officers.

Upon arrival, the crews assessed the situation and requested further reinforcements.

Two additional appliances from Hayle and Perranporth were mobilised to assist.

By 22:10, the number of fire engines required was increased to six as the situation intensified.

At midnight, six fire engines and two officers remained on scene, actively working to control the fire using jets.

In response to the incident, a full evacuation of the premises has occurred.

Devon and Cornwall Police are present and have established a cordon around the area.

Authorities are urging the public to steer clear of the vicinity.

Local residents have been advised to keep their doors and windows shut to minimise exposure to smoke.
