Emergency services called in Falmouth after incident on cliff

A person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene

Police were called out yesterday (May 8) to an incident on a cliff - after being notified by the coastguard.

Despite their best efforts, we're told that a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 12:08hrs on Thursday 08 May to an incident in Falmouth. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.”

Whilst Devon and Cornwall Police told us: "Police were notified by the Coastguard at 12.40pm on Thursday 8 May following concern for the welfare of a man in Falmouth.

"The man in his 60s had fallen from a cliff path near to The Greenbank Hotel, Stratton Place.

"Ambulance attended but despite the efforts of emergency services the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
