Elsey Davis, a professional trail-runner and GP, has become the first person to run the entire way around Cornwall, starting and ending at Lands End.

She took on the challenge to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's, after her mum was diagnosed with Young-onset Alzheimer's last year.

She has so far raised around 18 thousand pounds.

Elsey completed the trail yesterday (5th October) after running 12-15 hours every day for a week.

The trail was just over 640km so Elsey ran around 80-100km a day.

Elsey said, "I think since mum had been diagnosed, it was hard to know how to help or what to do to make things better. I wanted to help the only way I knew how.

"There's still a big stigma attached to Alzheimer's so I wanted to get people talking about it and for other people going through it to know that they aren't alone.

"The response has been amazing since I finished. I've had messages from people in the same situation.

"Having my mum at the finish line was really special.

"Her disease is fairly progressed so she didn't fully understand what I was doing, but I felt in those last few minutes when I reached the Lands End sign she understood that something enormous had happened.

"She seemed really happy and that was really beautiful."
