The Duchy of Cornwall has announced a strategic partnership with Regenified to accelerate the adoption of regenerative farming practices across its estate, with the goal of having all equipped farms following these principles by 2035.

Unveiled at Groundswell, the partnership provides Duchy tenants with access to Regenified’s 6-3-4 verification standard, offering a structured framework for evaluating and demonstrating progress in regenerative agriculture.

Through the Duchy's Farming and Nature programme, tenants will receive funding and support in integrating regenerative practices, enhancing farm resilience, soil health, biodiversity, and long-term land productivity.

Matthew Morris, Rural Director at the Duchy of Cornwall, emphasized the importance of regenerative agriculture in cultivating resilient farm businesses and welcomed the partnership as a vital step in this transition.

"We're excited because regenerated farming is about the future of British agriculture, we've got to farm in a way that provides resilience for our farmers. If we look at the weather we've been having recently, that story of resilience is just so important."

Alongside the verification standard, the Duchy introduces a new regenerative Farm Business Tenancy (rFBT) model to enshrine regenerative principles in long-term tenancy agreements. Monkhall Farm in Herefordshire emerges as the initial flagship opportunity for tenants well-versed in regenerative farming.

The Duchy of Cornwall will also reinforce its commitment by providing various forms of support such as practical advice, grant access, peer-to-peer learning, and webinars to educate tenants on the new standards and tenancy framework.

Training for staff on Regenified verification and webinars for farm tenants are slated for this autumn, facilitating understanding and application of the partnership’s objectives and benefits.
