Dinosaurs are returning to Eden Project with one of the UK's largest animatronic collection
Animatronic giants and live dinosaur theatre will appear in Cornwall from July
The Eden Project in Cornwall is set to reopen one of its most popular family attractions, featuring animatronic dinosaurs and live theatre for a unique summer experience.
‘Dinosaurs Return’ marks a decade since Eden’s renowned Dinosaur Uprising, promising an expanded prehistoric spectacle from 25th July to 6th September this summer.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Eden Project will transform its location into a prehistoric world, showcasing 15 animatronic dinosaurs, including a towering 40-foot-long Tyrannosaurus rex amid lush surroundings.
The event features Dinosaur World Live, an Olivier Award-winning show that captivates audiences with theatre, science, and storytelling. The 45-minute interactive production will be available three times daily, seven days a week throughout the summer.
Visitors can embark on an expedition starting at the palaeontology research lab, working to locate dinosaurs embedded in the Rainforest Biome. Dinosaurs include T-rex, Triceratops, Velociraptors, and giant pterosaurs, creating a journey through deep time with surprises along the way.
Besides animatronic dinosaurs and live theatre, the event offers interactive activities, dinosaur-themed crafts, and storytelling. This programme aims to ignite curiosity and creativity, allowing children to immerse themselves and learn more about dinosaurs and prehistoric environments.
Simon Townsend, General Manager at the Eden Project, said the programme’s scale and integration into the Rainforest Biome offers a unique UK experience amid the fascination with dinosaurs resurging in media and new scientific discoveries.
Simon added that the environment resembles the conditions during the Cretaceous period – a warm, humid world conducive to dinosaurs, making Eden’s setting fit for this theatrical takeover.
“Whether you’re a dinosaur enthusiast or simply seeking a remarkable day out, this summer at Eden delivers a genuine ‘wow’ moment,” Simon said.
Visitors can also explore the renowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition from 6th June to 5th September, produced by the Natural History Museum, celebrating Earth’s beauty and fragility.
All summer activities, including Dinosaur World Live, are included with a standard ticket. Special summer savings are offered following VAT cuts, with reduced admission prices for advance bookings and discounted children’s meals.
