The A38 is closed in both directions between A390 west (Dobwalls) and A390 east (Liskeard), Cornwall.

National Highways is advising motorists to allow more time for journeys this morning with the A38 closed in both directions between the A390 west (Dobwalls) and A390 east (Liskeard) in Cornwall due to a serious collision.

The incident involving one car happened at 5.48am. All emergency services are in attendance with the road likely to remain closed for some time as police investigations continue. Local diversions are in place.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We were notified at around 5am this morning, Sunday 22 June, to reports of a collision on the A38 at Glynn, Bodmin

"The incident involved a single vehicle. The driver has been seriously injured and their next of kin will be informed.

"Road closures have been put in place around the area on the Westbound offslip towards Liskeard and at Twelvood Roundabout towards Liskeard.

"Closures will be in place for much of the day and motorists are asked to avoid the area for the time being."

With large volumes of traffic anticipated to be travelling home from Cornwall today following the weekend, motorists are advised to plan ahead, avoid the area if possible or allow more time for their journeys.
