A man has been charged with two counts of child abduction after an incident involving the welfare of two children in east Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to an incident over concerns for the welfare of those driving in a car travelling through the east of the county on Tuesday (May 20th).

Following leads, the car - and those in it - was found in North Devon the following morning (May 21st).

In the wake of the discovery, a man was arrested by officers on suspicion of child abduction by the force.

Now, in an update published on Friday (May 23rd), Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the man was being charged with two counts of child abduction.

The 37-year-old man from Lincolnshire was remanded into police custody and has been ordered to appear before Barnstaple Magistrates' Court later that day.
