Truro and Penwith College celebrates ‘exceptional’ results as hundreds secure university places
College exceeds national averages across multiple qualifications
Truro and Penwith College says almost 2,000 students have received their Level 3 results, with high-grade performance above national further-education averages across its main qualification types.
The college says the proportion of students achieving A* to A grades at A Level was twice the national average for further education colleges.
Across BTEC, OCR and NCFE programmes, the proportion achieving the highest possible grades was also double the national average, according to the college.
Around 80 per cent of T Level students achieved Merit, Distinction or Distinction grades, with 28 per cent achieving either Distinction or Distinction.
The college says more than 800 students have secured their first-choice university place, including almost 300 progressing to Russell Group universities.
Among those receiving results at Penwith College in Penzance, 62 per cent of A Level entries achieved A* to B grades.
The college says particularly strong results were recorded in subjects including Biology, English Literature, Environmental Science, Law, Art, Physics, History and Film Studies.
Vocational students also celebrated strong results, with more than 90 per cent of Music Performance and Games Design students achieving high grades, while 88 per cent of Media and Art and Design students did so.
At Truro College, more than 2,300 A Level entries produced an overall pass rate of 98 per cent, with 576 A* or A grades awarded.
The college says 18 A Level subjects achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.
Principal Carl Riding said the results placed the college among the country's top-performing further education colleges.
He said the results demonstrated that "excellence is evident across every pathway", while praising students, staff, parents, carers, employers and partners.
The results come after the college's International Baccalaureate students recorded a pass rate of more than 97 per cent in results announced last month.
Truro and Penwith College says more than 800 students are now heading to their first-choice universities, while others are progressing into higher and degree apprenticeships, specialist training and employment.
The college is continuing to accept applications for courses starting in September.
