Cornish Pirates launch new foundation to improve lives through rugby
Foundation aims to extend positive impacts across Cornwall
The Cornish Pirates are set to launch the Cornish Pirates Foundation, aiming to foster positive change across Cornwall through rugby's core values. The Foundation officially kicks off this Sunday at the Cornish Pirates' opening Champ Rugby fixture of the season.
Working alongside the Cornish Pirates, the Foundation will deliver structured programmes rooted in teamwork, respect, discipline, and resilience. These endeavours will enhance the existing efforts of the Cornish Pirates community team, expanding initiatives like their award-winning campaign that encourages young men to stand up for women and girls against violence and abuse.
Cornish Pirates CEO Sally Pettipher expressed enthusiasm for the launch, stating, "This is a landmark moment, bringing a dedicated team with 100% focus on positive outcomes for our communities through the new Pirates Foundation."
Throughout the season, several events will be held to support the Foundation, including the Cornish Pirates VIP event featuring former British & Irish Lion Shane Williams and former England International Peter Winterbottom, hosted by Nick Knowles.
