Three people have been sentenced following a harrowing episode where two women were trapped inside a Wisbech residence and subjected to assaults.

On 17th March, David Warden, 52, confronted the victims claiming they owed him and Bricy Upton, 24, money.

The women were forced to withdraw money from a cash machine and taken to the Waterlees Road home Upton shared with Sharne Boon, 33, in Wisbech.

Inside the residence, the trio prevented the women from leaving and assaulted them by slapping and punching them in the face.

The victims were eventually released and reported the ordeal to the police.

David Warden was apprehended on 20th March in Norfolk Street, Wisbech, with heroin in his possession.

Upton and Boon were apprehended the following day at their Waterlees Road home, where authorities found a zombie knife, an item set to become illegal in 2024.

The court proceedings at Peterborough Crown Court on 29th September culminated in sentencing for the trio.

David Warden, residing in Belt Drove, Elm, was jailed for 30 months and received two ten-year restraining orders after admitting false imprisonment and heroin possession. He denied further related charges, which remain on file.

Bricy Upton was also sentenced to 30 months imprisonment and received two ten-year restraining orders, admitting false imprisonment. Charges he denied remain on file.

Sharne Boon was instructed to perform 60 hours of unpaid work and issued two ten-year restraining orders after admitting assault by beating. Denied charges remain on file.

The restraining orders prevent any form of contact with the victims and prohibit attendance at locations where the victims reside.

Detective Constable Matthew Wright, involved in the investigation, praised the victims' courage: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims, who were forcibly taken by Warden and underwent an unprovoked attack.

“I would like to commend their bravery for reporting this to us and co-operating throughout the investigation, resulting in Upton and Warden being sentenced to time behind bars.”
