Violent arsonist jailed for attack in Histon
Anthony Lamb sentenced to over three years for terrifying incident
A man who launched a violent attack on his ex-partner in Histon, near Cambridge, has been jailed for over three years.
Anthony Lamb, aged 51, caused chaos when he arrived at his former partner's home on 30th July, smashing up the property before attempting to assault her with a hammer.
The woman managed to escape to a neighbour's house and contact police. Upon their arrival, officers found a fire had been started outside her home.
Police were able to quickly extinguish the blaze and arrested Lamb.
Lamb, from Church Street, Gamlingay in Sandy, admitted to two counts of criminal damage and breaching a restraining order.
He received his sentence on 1st October at Peterborough Crown Court, facing a total of three years and six months in prison.
Detective Constable Jack Sillince, responsible for the investigation, commented on the severity of Lamb's actions.
"Lamb launched a violent and frightening attack against his ex-partner," Sillince said.
"If she hadn’t escaped to her neighbour’s and if the fire had taken hold this could have been even worse."
"I am glad justice has been done and hope Lamb reflects on his actions while behind bars."
