Peterborough Cathedral has launched an urgent appeal to raise funds so it can stay open in the future.

The iconic landmark has been at the heart of the city for over 900 years.

It needs to raise £300,000 by the end of March to help keep its doors open seven days a week.

The running costs of the Cathedral exceed £2 million pounds annually.

The Cathedral says rising costs are threatening the future of the place of worship.

The Very Reverend Chris Dalliston, is the Dean of Peterborough Cathedral - he spoke to us about what might happen if funds can't be raised:

"We will have to start thinking then very clearly about some of things we can't do.

"Maybe we will have to close some days of the week.

"This place deserves to be a success because people love it, they need it".
