Police have temporarily closed two properties on Stone Street in Cambridge following reports of anti-social behaviour.

On Tuesday (7 April), 2 Bury Court was shut for three months after Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s Cambridge Neighbourhood Team requested action at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court.

Meanwhile, the neighbouring property, 1 Bury Court, was served with a partial closure order on the same day, also prompted by the neighbourhood team’s application.

Neighbourhood Police Sergeant, Lauren Hart, said: “People living near these properties have had to put up with months of anti-social behaviour.

“The court has now issued closure orders which we hope will help to address the issue, by preventing people committing anti-social behaviour and other criminal offences from entering the properties.”

Under the Anti-Social Behaviour and Policing Act 2014, 2 Bury Court is subject to a full closure order. Only the landlord and emergency services are allowed access, with the restriction in place until 6 July.

1 Bury Court has been given a partial closure order under the same legislation. Access is limited to the tenant, the landlord, and emergency services until 6 July.

Anyone found entering either property without permission could face arrest.
