Three sentenced for county drugs line between Peterborough and Leicester

They were arrested as part of a crackdown on county lines drug dealing across Cambridgeshire

Three men have been sentenced due to their involvement in running the 'Haje' county drugs line between Peterborough and Leicester.

Harem Abdulla and Dyako Abdwlrahman were discovered with two deal phones on 10 March after officers raided a property in Grasmere Street, Leicester. It was part of a crackdown on county lines drug dealing across Cambridgeshire, Operation Hypernova.

20-year-old Safin Akram was also arrested for helping to run the lines from his home in St Michael’s Gate in Peterborough, with seven wraps of cocaine in his vehicle.

The trio were sending out bulk messages and offering to supply cocaine in Peterborough, as investigated through phone records by the police.

At Cambridge Crown Court on Monday (5 January), Abdulla, 28, of Wickworth Street, Nelson, Lancashire, was sentenced to three years in prison and Abdwlrahman, 22, of no fixed address, was sentenced to two years and nine months after previously pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Akram was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years.

Detective Constable James Campbell, who investigated, said: “Drug dealing brings violence, exploitation and other serious crime to our streets and we see first-hand, the devastating impact it can have on individuals and families every day.

“Tackling drug dealing remains a priority and we’re committed to relentlessly pursuing those who profit from the misery it causes.”
