A man who threatened supermarket staff with a crutch after stealing pyjamas and later exposed himself to a police officer has been jailed.

Nicholas Masson, 32, was caught stealing from Sainsbury's in Huntingdon in December last year before threatening staff who followed him outside.

Days later, while on bail, he was arrested again after exposing himself to a police officer in Cambridge. Investigators also linked him to abusive behaviour towards a woman at a nearby Co-op.

Masson, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 13 months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court after admitting a string of offences including theft, exposure, possessing an offensive weapon and assaulting an emergency worker.

Police said he was aggressive towards shop staff, officers and members of the public during the incidents.
