A man, who gave a Peterborough pharmacy his details before stealing from them, has been jailed.

Farid Lahfa, 45, entered City Centre Pharmacy, in Craig Street, Millfield, on 5 May, to pick up medication.

He was caught on CCTV putting several perfumes and medicines in his coat pocket, while staff were getting his items.

The spree offender team arrested Lahfa on 29 May for the theft, as well as a theft of confectionary from Sainsbury’s, on Oxney Road, Peterborough, on 22 May.

Lahfa, of St Mary’s Court, Eastgate, Peterborough, admitted the two charges at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (30 May).

He was jailed for 32 weeks, which included the part-activation of a suspended sentence for shoplifting offences, and ordered to pay £328.93 in compensation.

PC Jack Jenkins, from the northern spree offender team, said: “Lahfa stealing from the pharmacy despite handing over his details shows how brazen he is and his complete disregard for the law.

“The team will continue to work closely with businesses across the city centre to tackle retail crime by identifying those involved and arresting them.”
