St Ives man jailed after assault on ex-partner left her seriously injured
Aaron Diiuorio handed ten-year restraining order following attack
A 35-year-old man from St Ives, has been sentenced to two years and five months in prison after attacking his former partner, leaving her with significant facial injuries.
The assaults took place at a property in St Ives, first occurring on the evening of 28th August last year when Aaron Diiuorio accused the victim of stealing his drugs.
He then punched her in the face.
When she attempted to leave the room, Diiuorio blocked the door and continued to assault her.
Diiuorio was initially arrested on 17th September, but the victim did not support police action at the time.
However, the situation escalated on 7th December when Diiuorio arrived at the victim's home in the early hours of the morning and punched her again, causing serious injuries to her face.
He fled the scene but was later arrested at a nearby location.
Diiuorio appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on 8th June, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm.
Alongside the prison sentence, he received a ten-year restraining order.
In a past incident, Diiuorio had been jailed in November 2024 for an assault on a different victim.
Detective Constable Emily South, who investigated the case, said,
“Diiuorio is clearly a violent individual who has learnt nothing from his previous time in prison for domestic violence, so I’m glad he’s been deprived of his liberty again.”
