A drug dealer with a history of offending has been jailed after being caught with cocaine and cash in St Ives.

Neighbourhood police officers spotted a van parked in Norris Road on the evening of 18th August while on patrol in the town. When officers approached the vehicle, it drove off, and 24-year-old Liam Halliday, a passenger, fled on foot into Warners Park.

Officers pursued Halliday through streets and gardens, eventually apprehending him in Park Road. He was found carrying £215 in cash, along with 15 bags of cocaine and two bags of crack cocaine worth a combined street value of £1,100.

Halliday, of St Ives Road, Hemingford Grey, was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court Tuesday (4th November) to five and a half years in prison.

He had previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and criminal damage.
