Appeal for witnesses after motorcyclist left with serious injuries in Royston

The man in his 20s remains in hospital - and a driver has been arrested.

Police are appealing for witnesses, information and dash cam footage following a serious road traffic collision in Royston.

The incident occurred at around 6.45am yesterday (Monday 26 January) on Baldock Road in Royston.

The collision involved two vehicles, a white Yamaha YBR125 motorcycle and a white BMW 135i.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains.

The driver of the BMW, a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and drug driving. He has been released on bail as enquiries continue.

Sergeant Luke Jenkins from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing for witnesses to this collision to contact police to help the investigation into what happened.

“I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone with a dash cam and who was driving in the area at the time in case they recorded any important footage. If you captured anything, please upload this via herts.police.uk/dashcamupload.”
