A sex offender from Cambridgeshire has been jailed for four years after he was found with 299 indecent images of children on his phone.

Richard Dickens, who's 40-years-old, was arrested in March last year.

His phone was seized with officers finding 127 of the most serious images, 'Category A'.

They also found messages where he shared illegal images and spoke about his attraction to children.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said he "pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, two counts of distributing an indecent photograph of a child, sharing a photograph or film of a person in an intimate state for the purpose of sexual gratification, and failing to comply with notification requirements."

He was sentenced at Huntingdon Law Courts on Wednesday (4th June).

Detective Sergeant Scott Lloyd, from the Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders unit, said: “Dickens’ crimes and failure to stick to his notification requirements prove he poses a serious threat to children.

“I’m glad justice has been done today. This case shows how seriously this type of offending is taken by us and the criminal justice system.”
