Investigation launched after rare ninth century statues stolen from garden in Ely
Police are appealing for information
Two rare Indian bronze statues have been stolen from a house in Church Lane, Sutton, near Ely.
The theft occurred between 26th and 29th April, prompting police to seek information from the public.
The stolen items are replicas of statues from the Chola period, a dynasty from Southern India that existed between the ninth and 13th centuries.
These handcrafted statues hold significant personal value to the victim.
PC Taylor said, “The victim would just like his statues back as they mean a lot to him. If anyone has seen the statues for sale on social media or at a car boot sale, I would urge them to get in touch with us.”
Police are appealing for information regarding the theft or sightings of the statues.
