A man described by Cambridgeshire Police as a "prolific shoplifter" has been jailed for 20 weeks and ordered to pay £60 compensation to the Co-op.

43 year old Marcus Baker was subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from entering any of the chain's stores in Cambridge when he stole chocolates and other items from the Chesterton Road branch last month.

PC Skye Woodhouse, who investigated, said, "Criminal behaviour orders are another tool we can use to help better protect the community from repeat offenders.

"I hope this order provides reassurance to Cambridgeshire’s retailers and employees that breaches will be taken seriously by police and the courts."
