Man arrested over alleged racist remarks at Peterborough United match released on bail

Police have confirmed that a 23-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested on Saturday, on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence

A man has been released on bail after being arrested at a Peterborough United match on suspicion of making racist remarks towards a member of staff.

Cambridge Police said a 23-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested at about 3.15pm on Saturday (1 March) on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence. He has been bailed until 31 May.

Peterborough United stated: “We are aware of an arrest in the GH Display Stand this afternoon following an allegation of racial abuse towards a member of staff.”

The club added: “On conclusion of the police investigation we will take appropriate action. Peterborough United does not condone any form of abuse.”
