Police hunting suspected arsonist in Trumpington
Detectives have launched a CCTV appeal following a number of fires in the area over the past two weeks
Police have released images of a man they wish to speak to following a series of deliberate fires in Trumpington.
Firefighters have responded to at least five fires in the village over the past two weeks, with the latest incidents occurring in the early hours of yesterday (26 February). Two bin store fires were reported in Cornwell Road and Addenbrooke’s Road, both of which have flats above them.
In Addenbrooke’s Road, the fire caused a window to crack and smoke to enter a property. The occupant was unharmed. Emergency services attended, and further enquiries with the fire service revealed at least five similar incidents since 17 February.
These include:
A bin fire in Addenbrooke’s Road on 17 February
Multiple bin fires in Perne Road on 17 February
Three separate bin fires in Perne Road on 20 February
A bin fire in Brookfields on 24 February
A bin fire in Addenbrooke’s Road on 25 February
Officers are linking the fires and have launched an investigation.
A police spokesperson said: “We are asking for the public’s help to identify the man in these images as we believe he may have information that could assist our enquiries.”
Anyone who recognises the man or has any information about the fires is urged to contact police online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Tarragona or crime reference 35/13809/25.
