Peterborough teenager jailed for dangerous driving after two police pursuits
Led officers on high-speed chases and evaded arrest twice
A 19-year-old from Peterborough has been jailed for 23 months following two high-speed police pursuits in the Peterborough area.
Adam Abdellouche was first spotted by officers on patrol in Broadway, Peterborough, on 18th September 2024, driving a silver Vauxhall Astra with suspected false number plates.
Upon an attempt to stop the vehicle, Abdellouche accelerated into Granville Street and drove at 55mph in a 30mph zone.
His dangerous driving continued along Dogsthorpe Road, during which he failed to give way, risked collision with other vehicles, mounted a pavement, and ultimately crashed into a wall.
Abdellouche fled the scene but was arrested after officers chased him down.
He was released on bail pending investigation but was involved in another pursuit on 10th April 2024 near Tallington, Lincolnshire.
An officer prevented Abdellouche's attempt to escape through a level crossing by blocking the road with a vehicle, prompting Abdellouche to mount a grass verge and drive across the wrong side of the road, reaching speeds over 120mph.
Officers used a stinger to stop the vehicle on the A15 between Glinton and Werrington.
Once again, Abdellouche fled, but was apprehended nearby, and a knife was found during his search.
Charged with two counts of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence, and possessing a knife in public, Abdellouche was sentenced on 4th August 2024 at Cambridge Crown Court.
He has been disqualified from driving for four years.
DC James Walker-Harrison said: "Abdellouche clearly had no consideration for the risk he put others in as he persistently drove dangerously in his failed attempts to get away from officers.
"Thankfully nobody was injured during these two incidents where he recklessly drove at high speed.
"I'm pleased he has now appeared in court and been jailed for his actions."
