A man who broke the jaw of a friend he had been out drinking with in Peterborough has been jailed.
Patryk Medrala, 28, was drinking with the victim and another man in the city centre, before moving on to pubs in Hampton and Orton on 7th September.
At the last pub, an argument broke out, before the three men and a woman got into a vehicle, where the attack happened.
A witness saw the victim, a man in his 20s, being thrown from the moving vehicle on Oundle Road, near Alwalton.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended the scene, and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Medrala continued to drive the car towards the city centre, where he failed to stop for officers, and a stinger was deployed on London Road.
He was arrested, along with the other occupants of the car, and refused to take a roadside breath test, Cambridgeshire Police said.
The victim was transferred to a specialist hospital, where he underwent surgery for his broken jaw and received treatment for other injuries.
Medrala, of Ward Close, Eastfield, Peterborough, admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent, failing to stop for police and failure to provide a specimen for analysis.
On Friday 16th October, at Peterborough Crown Court, he was jailed for three and a half years and disqualified from driving for 33 months.
Detective Constable Roberto Scialla-Cooper described it as "a vicious attack which left the victim with serious injuries".
"To assault someone like this, throw them from a moving car and then abandon them is truly awful," DC Scialla-Cooper said.
"I'm pleased Medrala was apprehended and has now been jailed for his shocking actions," he said.
