112 flats left without water after fire in Peterborough
A fire at Vicarage Farm Road disrupts local water services
More than 100 flats were left without water after a fire in Peterborough over the weekend.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue were called out to the accidental fire on Vicarage Farm Road shortly before 10am on Saturday (18 July).
Shabina Qayyum, Labour leader of Peterborough City Council, visited the site and said on social media the water tank had "exploded".
She expressed gratitude to Anglian Water, saying they "have been absolutely amazing" and had sent "a whole lorry load of water."
She also mentioned her contact with residents and the management company, noting that the council had "activated its emergency planning service" in response to the "awful" situation.
Efforts are underway by the management company to restore the water supply and an emergency surveyor is being arranged.
